What is trichophyton schoenleinii?

Trichophyton schoenleinii is a dermatophyte fungus that causes the skin infection known as favus or tinea favosa. It primarily affects the scalp, but can also affect other areas of the body including the feet, nails, and groin. The infection causes circular, yellowish patches on the skin, which can become crusted and scaly. Favus can lead to hair loss, scarring, and other complications if left untreated. It is most common in areas with poor hygiene and is more prevalent in developing countries. Treatment typically involves antifungal medication and good hygiene practices to prevent spread of the infection.
